What’s the Best SUV with Pilot Seats for Families?

I’ve been on the lookout for a new SUV, and I’m particularly interested in those that come with pilot seats (or captain’s chairs) in the second row. With my growing family, comfort and accessibility are top priorities.

Here’s what I’m considering:

  • Comfort: Pilot seats provide a lot more space and comfort compared to standard bench seats, which is great for long trips.
  • Accessibility: They often make it easier to get to the third row, which is a big plus for families.
  • Practicality: I want something that balances a spacious interior with good fuel efficiency and tech features.

What I’m wondering:

  • Which SUVs are currently rated the highest for 2024 and 2025?
  • Are there specific brands known for having the most comfortable pilot seats?
  • Any recommendations based on personal experiences or professional reviews?

Some models I’ve looked into:

  • Honda Pilot
  • Kia Telluride
  • Ford Explorer
  • Toyota Highlander

If anyone has insights or suggestions based on their own experiences or car reviews, I’d love to hear from you! Thanks in advance for your help!

I highly recommend the Honda Pilot! The pilot seats are super comfortable, and there’s ample space for family trips. We recently took a 10-hour drive, and everyone felt great.

I’ve heard great things about the Pilot too! But what about the interior configuration? Is it easy to get car seats in the back?

We own a Toyota Highlander, and the pilot seats in the second row are a game-changer! Lots of legroom for kids and easy access to the back.

That’s good to know! How is the overall comfort for adults on long trips in the Highlander?

The Highlander is quite comfy for adults too! We took a weekend trip and everyone was happy, no complaints here. Planning on using it for a big road trip next month.

We’ve been looking into the Kia Telluride. I’ve heard the pilot seats are spacious and it has great cargo space. Anyone have experience with this model?

Sounds promising! How does it handle longer drives? Any issues with seat comfort?

For long drives, it’s super comfy! I drove 12 hours straight, and we didn’t feel cramped at all. The pilot seats really help with support.

I am curious about the size of the Mitsubishi Outlander. It has pilot seats too, but I wonder if it feels smaller than the others mentioned. Any thoughts?

Honestly, the Outlander can feel a bit cramped, especially in the back row for taller passengers. If I had to rank them, it’s not my top choice for families.

When considering SUVs with pilot seats, safety ratings should be at the top of your list. The Honda Pilot consistently scores well in crash tests and offers advanced safety features.

I’ve heard great things about the Pilot! What features does it include that separate it from others in terms of family safety?

Don’t forget to check out the Toyota Highlander! It also has excellent safety ratings, and their pilot seats are super comfortable for road trips with kids.

Comfort is key! Do you know if the Highlander has specific features for child safety seats?

Yes, the Highlander has LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) which makes installing car seats easier and safer. Plus, it has an available 360-degree camera.

I also love the Ford Explorer! It has a strong safety rating and plenty of space, perfect for families. Just make sure to check the specific trim for pilot seats.

That’s a good point! I’ve seen variations across models. Anyone know about the Kia Telluride and its safety features?

The Telluride ranks high in safety and has standard driver-assist features. Plus, it’s spacious, making it great for families!
