Tyre Pressure Light Won't Turn Off - Need Help!

I’m dealing with a frustrating issue where my tyre pressure light just won’t go off, even after checking and inflating all my tires to the correct pressure. I’ve reset the TPMS a couple of times, but that light seems to have a mind of its own!

What I’ve Tried:

  • Checked all four tires: They’re all at the recommended pressure.
  • Reset the TPMS: Followed my manual’s instructions, but the light comes back on.
  • Visual inspection: No visible punctures or damage.

This whole situation is starting to get on my nerves, and I just want some clarity on what could be the issue. Has anyone else experienced this? What should I check next? Could it be a fault in the TPMS or is there something I’m overlooking? Any advice, tips, or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Exactly! Low tyre pressure is often the culprit. If they’re fine, it might be a sensor issue.

Don’t forget about the possibility of a malfunctioning TPMS. If the system is faulty, it might not recognize the pressure is correct and keep the light on.

That’s a good point! It saved me a trip to the garage once.

Checking the battery in your TPMS can also be worthwhile. If it’s low, that could definitely cause issues.

If you’re not comfortable doing it yourself, a trip to a mechanic might be necessary. They can easily diagnose whether it’s a sensor or the system.

Good point! I didn’t think of that; I just assumed it was the sensors.

I’m just here thinking about the irony—buying a brand new car only to stress about tyre pressure lights. Who invented these things?!

I had the same issue! First, make sure all tires are inflated to the recommended pressure. Then, try turning your car off and on to see if it resets the light.

Also, have you checked your owner’s manual? Sometimes there are specific steps for resetting the tire pressure light based on the make and model.

Quick tip: Try driving your car for about 10 minutes after inflating the tires. The light may turn off by itself once the system detects the correct pressure!

That sounds like a good idea! I never thought it would be that simple. Has anyone experienced the light stay on even after driving?

Yes, if the light remains on, you might need to reset it manually. Look for a reset button under the steering wheel or in the glove box, depending on the vehicle.

Great point! Just make sure to press and hold it until the light blinks. It worked for me after I inflated my tires.

Why does this happen so often? It feels like such a hassle! All this technology, and still, sometimes you end up with a stubborn light!

Exactly! It’s almost like the car just wants to remind you of your responsibility as a driver. :joy: But seriously, following the reset procedure after tire inflation is key.

That’s quite concerning! Hopefully, the rest of us won’t hit that snag. But it’s helpful to know in case of persistent issues.

In my case, the light wouldn’t turn off even after resetting! I found out my tire sensor was faulty and needed replacement. Just something to consider if it doesn’t work for you.

Thanks, everyone! It seems like a community effort to tackle these issues. I appreciate the advice and will definitely try these methods.

If your tyre pressure light won’t turn off even after checking and adjusting the pressure, it might indicate a more serious issue. Sensors can fail, or there might be a slow leak that needs professional attention.
