Need Tips on How to Stop Birds from Pooping on My Car

Having trouble with pesky birds leaving droppings all over my car? It’s becoming a real headache! I park my car outside, and no matter the time of year, it seems like those birds find my vehicle irresistible.

I’ve read a few different suggestions, but I’m looking for more practical advice and tried-and-true methods. Here are some things I’m considering:

  • Using Decoys: I’ve thought about getting a plastic owl or hawk to scare them off. Does this really work?
  • Reflective Materials: I’ve heard that using shiny objects can deter birds. What types of reflective materials or objects have you successfully used?
  • Car Covers: Would investing in a car cover be a good preventive measure, especially if I park outside?

I’d love to hear your experiences or any other creative solutions you’ve come up with to keep those bird droppings away. Let’s share our best tips for maintaining our cars and protecting their paint jobs! Thanks in advance for your help.

I totally understand your pain! Have you tried using anti-bird spikes? They work wonders to keep birds at bay.

I’ve read that reflective surfaces, like those shiny car covers, can scare them off too. Anyone have experience with that?

I’ve used bird deterrent gel before with some success. It’s sticky and birds don’t like landing on it. Just be careful where you apply it!

That sounds interesting! Does it leave any marks on the paint?

No, it doesn’t damage the paint if you apply it properly. I recommend checking out products from Bird-X—they have some good options!

Decoys can work, but it seems like the birds sometimes get used to them. You’d have to keep switching it out with something new occasionally.

Honestly, I think the birds see my car as a public restroom. Maybe I should just start carrying a portable car cover instead!

Haha! That’s true! Sometimes even the best methods don’t work, and you end up just resigned to cleaning often.

I think it’s a constant battle. Maybe a combo of spikes, reflective surfaces, and decoys might be worth a shot. It’s kind of like a science experiment at this point!

I’ve had the same issue! For cleaning, I recommend using a solution of water and vinegar or a dedicated car wash product. Just make sure to rinse thoroughly to avoid any residue that could harm your paint.

Great tips! I’ve also found that a quick wipe with wet wipes can work wonders before the droppings dry up. Just don’t wait too long!

Using a clay bar on the affected area after cleaning can help remove any residue and protect your car’s paint. It’s a bit of effort, but worth it if you’re dealing with frequent bird attacks!

To prevent this, consider covering your car whenever possible or parking in a garage. It’s a hassle, but it keeps the birds away!

I’ve tried the covers! Sometimes they work, but then I have to deal with the cover getting dirty too. It feels like a losing battle against nature!

There’s actually been some discussion about using auditory deterrents, like bird repellent sounds. Has anyone tried this? I’m curious about its effectiveness!

I agree with this! I actually started using a wax sealant after cleaning, which really helps repel future messes and protects the paint.

Yes! I used those ultrasonic bird deterrents for a while. They seemed to help, but I think the birds got used to them. Worth a try though!

Someone told me that putting some shiny tape or old CDs around can help deter birds. Has anyone found this to actually work? Sounds a bit odd!

I’ve read that birds tend to poop on cars because they see them as a safe place to perch. This could be due to your car being parked near trees or often under power lines. Try changing the parking spot if possible.
