Looking for Recommendations on BMW M2 Roof Racks

I’ve recently been considering getting a roof rack for my BMW M2, and I’m looking for some advice from fellow enthusiasts. I want to enhance the utility of my ride by being able to carry some extra gear, whether it’s for a road trip or outdoor activities.

What to Look for in a Roof Rack

When it comes to picking a roof rack, here are some factors I’m considering:

  • Compatibility: Are there specific roof racks that are best suited for the M2, particularly the G42 or G87 models? I would love to hear about any personal experiences with these.
  • Installation: How easy is it to install different roof racks? I’m somewhat handy, but I definitely don’t want to make any mistakes. Any tips or step-by-step guides would be awesome!
  • Durability: For those who have been using roof racks, how have yours held up over time? I want something that can withstand the elements.
  • Best Places to Buy: I’ve seen a few options on sites like eBay, BMW Parts Now, and ECS Tuning, but where do you think I can find the best deals?

User Experiences

If you have installed a roof rack on your BMW M2, I’d love to hear how it has changed your experience with the car. Did it affect the driving in terms of noise and handling?

Overall, I’m hoping to gather some solid insights before making a purchase. Thank you for any help you can provide!

I’m also on the lookout for roof racks that fit the BMW M2. I’ve heard that the Thule AeroBlade is a solid choice. Has anyone tried it?

Absolutely! The AeroBlade is really quiet on the road and easy to install. Highly recommend it from my experience.

I’ve been considering the JetStream! Do you find it easy to remove when not in use?

I prefer the Yakima JetStream for my M2. It’s lightweight, and I love the design. Plus, it holds up well under pressure! Anyone else used it?

What about the Rhino Rack Vortex? I’ve seen mixed reviews: some love it, others think it’s noisy. Any thoughts?

I had the Vortex for a while and it was decent, but yeah, it was definitely louder than the Thule. I’ve switched to that now and I’m much happier!

You guys are making it sound like roof racks are a relationship! It’s all about finding the right fit, I guess.

Haha! True! It does feel like a commitment to choose the best one. Any recommendations for budget-friendly options?

The Inno Aero could be a good compromise for price and performance. It didn’t break the bank for me and it fits well.

Thanks for the tip! Might check it out. Do you think it’s as reliable as the Thule?

Reliability can vary, but I’ve found Inno to be solid. Just keep in mind that Thule tends to come with a longer warranty period.

Thanks everyone for the insightful comments! I’ll definitely consider all the recommendations. It’s nice to have this support while trying to choose.

I’ve installed a roof rack on my M2 before. The biggest challenge was aligning it properly with the existing mounting points. Make sure you have a torque wrench handy; it’s crucial for securing the bolts without over-tightening.

Good advice! Another tool I found useful is a level to ensure the rack is perfectly straight. It makes a noticeable difference in appearance and functionality.

When I did mine, I also struggled with the rubber gaskets that go in the clamps. Make sure they are seated properly, or you’ll end up with annoying vibrations and noise while driving!

Exactly! I learned that the hard way after driving for a while. Any tips on where to find replacement gaskets if they get damaged?

You can usually find replacement gaskets at a BMW dealership or online. I’ve also seen some third-party sites that offer durable options. Just be sure they fit the M2 model you’re using.

One important step in installation is ensuring the roof is clean before you begin. Dirt can get trapped under the mounts, leading to scratches. Trust me, you don’t want to ruin that paint job!

True! I ended up using a microfiber cloth to clean the area thoroughly. Also, I suggest having someone help you; it makes aligning the racks much easier.
