Looking for Feedback on M Performance Exhaust System

I’m considering upgrading my BMW with an M Performance exhaust system and would love to hear your thoughts! :red_car::dash:

What I’m Looking For:

  • Performance Enhancements: How much of a difference did it make in terms of power? Any noticeable changes in throttle response?
  • Sound Characteristics: How does it sound? I’m looking for something sporty but not overly loud. Any sound clips available to compare?
  • Installation: How easy or complicated was it to install? Did you use a professional or do it yourself? Any tips for a smoother install?

Options In Mind:

I’ve been looking at a few different brands and options. If you have any recommended products or specific experiences with certain systems, please share!

I’ve recently installed the M Performance exhaust system on my M3, and the sound is incredible! It’s way deeper and more aggressive compared to the stock system. Makes every drive a thrill!

That’s awesome, vwhite! I noticed a big difference in sound on my M4 as well. It really enhances the driving experience, especially at high RPMs.

I had the M Performance exhaust on my M2 and the difference was night and day. The stock system felt so muted in comparison, especially when you wanted to really let it roar!

What about drone at highway speeds? I’ve heard mixed reviews about that with the M Performance systems. Does it really affect long cruises?

I’m curious about that too. I enjoy spirited driving but I don’t want the exhaust to ruin long road trips.

I think it really depends on how sensitive you are to sound. Some love the added character, others might find it annoying over longer drives.

I installed the M Performance system on my Z4, and it’s fantastic! Adds a sportier persona and really brings the car to life. It feels like a different vehicle altogether!

Absolutely! Every time I drive my M3 with this exhaust, I feel like I’m racing in a video game. The sound is just intoxicating!

I’ve installed the M Performance exhaust system on my M3 and found it fairly straightforward. Just make sure you have a decent socket set and some jack stands. The hardest part was getting the hangers off! Overall, very satisfying upgrade.

I agree! The installation was easier than I expected. Having a buddy help can make things a lot smoother, especially when lifting the system into place. Definitely recommend it!

I struggled a bit with the installation. I didn’t have the right tools at first, so I recommend getting a torque wrench and some extensions for your ratchet. It made a big difference for me!

I’ve heard that using some lubricant on the hangers can make them a lot easier to slide off during installation. I wish I had known that beforehand to save some headaches!

Totally agree, pmack! I used silicone spray, and it worked like a charm. Installation went much smoother after that.

LOL, I almost dropped the exhaust on my foot! Be careful if you’re working without a lift. A good pair of jack stands is essential. Safety first!

Definitely, mcdanielangelica! I cracked a knuckle during mine, so wear gloves too! Would hate for anyone to go through that.

What’s the noise level like after installation? I’m considering getting one but I don’t want it to be obnoxiously loud.

Great question, smithdiana! It’s louder than stock, but I personally love the sound. It’s aggressive but not over the top. I think you’ll love it if you appreciate a bit more growl!
