Kumho WinterCraft WP72 Review - Any Experiences Out There?

I’m looking to get some feedback on the Kumho WinterCraft WP72 tires. I’m considering a set for my car this winter and want to hear about real-world experiences. How do they perform in snow and ice? Are they good in wet conditions, or will I be struggling for grip? Also, how do they compare to other brands like Michelin or Bridgestone?

Here are a few questions I’m particularly interested in:

  • How’s the tread wear over the season?
  • Any issues with noise on the highway?
  • Overall handling and stability on different surfaces?

If you’ve used these tires, please share your thoughts! I’d love to gather as much info as possible before making a purchase decision. Thanks!

Looking forward to your reviews!

I’ve had the Kumho WinterCraft WP72 on my SUV for two winters now. The traction on snow was impressive, especially going uphill. Ice was manageable too, but be cautious on black ice.

That’s great to hear! How did they handle while cornering? I’m looking for stability.

That sounds promising! How do they perform when the roads are icy?

I found the handling to be quite stable, even on tighter turns in slushy conditions. I felt in control, which is a big plus for winter driving.

On icy roads, the Kumhos do lose a bit of grip compared to other brands I’ve tried. They work well for regular winter conditions but can be tested on severe ice.

Definitely! If you’re mostly in snow rather than ice, the WP72 is a solid choice. I’ve been really satisfied with the overall performance!

I just got these tires, so far so good! But I’m curious, how do they wear over time? Anyone faced issues with tread wear?

That’s good to know. I guess they are more suited for snowy conditions then?

Tread wear has been pretty decent for me after two seasons. However, if you’re hitting lots of icy spots repeatedly, it may wear down faster.

It’s interesting how different conditions affect wear! I hope they last through next winter for you, Carrie!

That’s true. Given my budget, I’m leaning towards these just because I need something reliable.

I had a good laugh installing them… I didn’t realize how heavy snow would mess with balance until I almost face-planted! They are manageable, though!

I’ve had my Kumho WinterCraft WP72s for two winters now, and they’ve held up really well. The tread life has been impressive compared to my previous tires, which wore out much quicker. Highly recommend them for winter conditions!

I think they’re a good middle-of-the-road option. I wouldn’t call them outstanding, but they get the job done well enough for most folks.

I’ve been using the WP72s in various conditions, and they definitely perform well in deep snow! For tread life, though, I noticed they started to wear a bit on dry pavement. Overall, a solid choice for winter.

That’s interesting, darlene27. I mostly drive in urban areas; do you think they are fine for mixed-use or should I look for something else?

I’ve had mine for a little over a year now. They still have decent tread, but I’ve barely driven on them in truly harsh conditions. Just curious, does anybody have experience with the tread lasting longer when rotated regularly?

I’ve heard mixed things about tread wear and traction dropping. In my experience, once they start to show significant wear, I did have some slip on ice, which was a bit scary!

Exactly, yserrano! If you’re careful with maintenance like rotating, you can definitely extend their life. I think that’ll be helpful for icy conditions.
