How's the Third Row Legroom in the BMW X7 for Adults?

I’m currently considering the BMW X7 as my next family SUV, and one of my biggest concerns is the third row legroom. I’ve seen some reviews, but they seem to vary a lot.

What I Want to Know

  • Comfort Level: Is the third row spacious enough for adult passengers on longer trips? How does it compare to other SUVs in the same class?
  • Usability: Is it practical for everyday family use? Can adults sit comfortably without feeling cramped?
  • Storage and Space: When the third row is in use, how much cargo space is left? This is crucial for road trips with the family.

Comparisons

I’ve looked into other BMW models and some competitors like the Audi Q7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS, which have also been mentioned in discussions about third-row space. If you’ve owned or test-driven the X7, I’d love to hear how it stacks up against those in terms of legroom and overall comfort.

Personal Experiences

If you’ve had experiences with the X7’s seating arrangements, whether positive or negative, feel free to share your thoughts! Any tips on how to make it more comfortable for taller passengers might also be helpful.

Looking forward to your insights! Thanks!

The third row legroom in the BMW X7 is surprisingly spacious for adults compared to others like the Audi Q7. I’m 6’1" and can sit comfortably back there, which isn’t always the case in luxury SUVs.

That’s great to hear! How does it measure up against the Mercedes-Benz GLS? I’ve heard mixed reviews about its space.

I found the X7’s third row to be better than the GLS. The GLS is a bit cramped for taller adults, while the X7 has decent legroom and even decent headspace.

It’s refreshing to see a luxury SUV where the third row is usable! I’ve been in both the X7 and Q7. While the Q7 is nice overall, the X7 wins in that legroom battle.

For sure! The Mercedes definitely feels tighter. Anyone have thoughts on how the X7’s legroom ranks overall against competitors? Is it really the best?

That’s encouraging! I’m considering the X7 mainly for family road trips. Do you find it comfortable for longer rides?

Absolutely! The X7’s third row combined with its overall comfort makes it a great choice for road trips. Plus, the ride is pretty smooth, which helps on longer drives.

I have to agree with you, @bellmichael. The X7 really shines when it comes to comfort. I feel like they’re designed for adults in the back, which is a win!

But isn’t it a bit contentious whether the X7 truly deserves that legroom praise, given the hefty price tag? Other options might be better bargains.

Good point! Pricing is a big factor. However, I think you get what you pay for in terms of space and luxury with the X7.

You guys are making me want to test drive the X7! LOL. Any idea about headroom in the third row? I’m concerned about that for my taller friends.

I’m about 6’3" and had no issues with headroom in the third row of the X7. It definitely beats the Q7 in that regard!

This is really helpful! Thanks, everyone. I feel like I can make a more informed decision now!

I’ve had long drives with adults in the third row of my BMW X7, and while it’s spacious for kids, adults can feel a bit cramped over long distances. Overall, it’s decent for shorter trips.

I took a 5-hour trip with four adults in my X7’s third row. They mentioned it was cozy but surprisingly not too uncomfortable. The legroom is better than many SUVs I’ve tried!

From my experience, the third row is okay for short commutes. I wouldn’t recommend it for anything over two hours, especially for taller adults. It’s really designed more for kids.

That’s a fair point, but I think it also depends on how tall the adults are. I’m 6’2", and I managed to fit reasonably well for a one-hour drive!

The legroom can be tight for taller individuals but the comfort level is decent, thanks to the padding. It can be a bit of a challenge when everyone wants to recline their seats.

Haha, yes! Imagine four adults trying to figure out leg space. We likened it to a game of Tetris on our last trip!
