How's the Mileage on Your 2013 BMW 328i?

I’m in the market for a 2013 BMW 328i and want to dive into real user experiences regarding its mileage. Fuel efficiency is a big factor for me, so I’m curious:

  • City MPG: What are you guys getting in urban driving?
  • Highway MPG: How does it perform on long trips?
  • Reliability: For those of you with higher mileage cars, have you faced any common issues?

I’m looking for detailed insights to determine if it’s a solid choice, especially concerning its performance as it ages. Any tips or personal experiences would be super helpful! Thanks!

I have a 2013 BMW 328i and I usually get around 29 MPG combined. It’s pretty close to the manufacturer’s rating of 30 MPG. Love the car!

That’s great to hear! I got around 27 MPG in city driving which surprised me; I expected better.

My experience has been similar to vthomas. I achieve about 28 MPG on the highway. Anyone else notice that it varies a lot with driving conditions?

I’ve noticed a difference too! My mileage dips when I hit the city traffic. What do you guys do to improve it?

Honestly, city driving is tough. I average about 24 MPG. I wish it was better, but I love the performance more than the mileage!

I regularly achieve around 30 MPG on longer trips. I’m pleased with that since the advertised ratings seemed optimistic at first.

I can relate! My city mileage was similar until I started monitoring my driving style. That made a difference!

That’s impressive! What speed do you usually drive at? I feel like my mileage drops above 70 mph.

I’ve hit close to 32 MPG on a highway trip but it’s rare. Most days, I’m happy with 27! This car is just too fun to drive.

It’s interesting to see the variability. I’ve averaged around 26 MPG overall – definitely below the stated figures. Might need a tune-up!

That’s concerning. It could be the driving conditions, or maybe the fuel quality? I’d check those first!

Reflecting on all this, I think it’s a mix of driving habits and conditions. My mileage is worse in summer; definitely a heat factor!

I’ve had my 2013 BMW 328i for about five years now, and I get around 28 MPG combined. The maintenance costs are reasonable, but I’ve heard that higher mileage might lead to more frequent repairs.

That’s great mileage, patricia96! I average 26 MPG, but I’m at about 95k miles now and starting to notice some creaks. Anyone else had issues like that?

At higher mileage, I’ve read that the turbocharger can sometimes fail. Has anyone experienced that? I’m planning to keep my 328i for a while, so I’m curious about maintenance schedules.

I haven’t had turbo issues, but I did replace my water pump around 80k miles. Classic BMW thing! It wasn’t too costly though, thankfully.

That’s interesting, mcguirealicia. I’ve seen water pumps go bad on other models too. It seems like regular oil changes are key to keeping the maintenance costs down.

I’m sitting at 100k miles, and I get around 25 MPG. I just had to replace the brake pads, which can add up. Is that a common expense as the mileage increases?

Totally common, fjones! I replaced mine around the same mileage too. The brakes can certainly take a hit after consistent driving.
