Best Spare Tire Kit for BMW X5? Insights Needed!

I’m in the market for a spare tire kit specifically for my BMW X5 and I’m hoping to gather some insights from other X5 owners. I’ve been looking at both OEM and aftermarket options, but I’m unsure which direction to go. Here are some points I’d love feedback on:

Compatibility

  • Which spare tire kits have you found to be best for fit and performance?
  • Are there any compatibility issues with different X5 models I should be aware of?

Storage

  • How do you typically store the spare tire kit in your X5? Any tips for maximizing space?

Purchase Recommendations

  • Where did you find the best deals on a spare tire kit?
  • Any specific brands or sellers you would suggest avoiding?

Installation

  • Is installing the spare tire kit straightforward, or should I consider getting help from a professional?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide! Looking forward to hearing your experiences and tips.

I drive a 2018 BMW X5, and I found that the BMW spare tire kit 36-11-2-346-454 fits my model perfectly. It’s a compact kit and easy to store!

For the 2020 X5, you’ll need the BMW part 36-11-2-346-509. It’s compatible and specifically designed for newer models!

I’ve done some research on aftermarket options, and while they’re cheaper, they sometimes lack the quality of OEM kits. I stick with BMW parts for reliability.

That’s helpful! I wonder if anyone has experience with aftermarket kits? Are they worth considering?

Thanks for sharing, Tabitha! Does anyone know if the same kit works for the 2020 model? I heard there’s a slight difference.

I agree with Chloe—got to prioritize safety! But if you’re looking for budget-friendly options, some reputable brands offer good alternatives.

For the 2015 X5, the recommended kit is 36-11-2-346-376. It worked well when I had a flat last year!

Anyone here have a 2015 model? I’m curious if the spare tire solution is the same as the newer ones we’ve discussed.

Thanks for the info, Eugene! How did you find the installation process?

Super easy! The kit comes with clear instructions, and I had it done in under 30 minutes. Just make sure you have the right tools handy!

That’s great to hear! I’m slightly clumsy, so I appreciate the heads up about tools. Just in case, do you recommend any specific brands?

If you’re clumsy like you said, maybe practice a bit with a friend or watch a video first! The last thing you want is a surprise when it’s dark and rainy!

Haha, thanks for the advice! I’ll definitely check for some video tutorials!

I had a cheap aftermarket kit at first, and it was a hassle! Make sure to invest in a good one regardless of model. It pays off in the long run.

Good point! It’s better to be safe than sorry when on the road.

Haha, I can relate, Robert! My spare looked great until it decided to be useless when I needed it most! Do check often, folks!

Let’s get real, how many of us even check our spare tires regularly? Mine was flat when I finally looked! Lesson learned!

I’m looking for the best spare tire kit as well! Anyone have recommendations specifically for the BMW X5?

I installed the BMW OEM kit last year. It fit great and came with everything needed. Installation was straightforward but took some time. I’d recommend a detailed checklist!
