Anyone installed a front lip on their BMW G20? Need advice!

I’m looking to enhance the look of my BMW G20, and I’ve been thinking about adding a front lip spoiler. I’ve seen quite a few options out there, but I want to make sure I get something that not only looks good but also performs well.

Questions I have:

  • Installation: How difficult is it to install a front lip? Do I need special tools or equipment?
  • Types of front lips: What are the different types of front lips available for the G20? Any brands you recommend?
  • Performance and aesthetics: Have you noticed any performance improvements with a front lip, or is it mostly for looks?
  • Pricing: What should I expect in terms of pricing? Are there budget-friendly options that still look good?

I’d love to hear your experiences and any tips you might have. Links to products or guides would be super helpful, too!

I’ve installed an ABS plastic front lip on my G20. It’s lightweight and pretty durable for everyday use! Just make sure to avoid those speed bumps!

That’s great to hear! How does it hold up after a few months? I’m worried about wear over time.

I’ve heard carbon fiber is the best for performance and aesthetics, but it can be expensive. Is it worth the investment over ABS or fiberglass?

I went with a fiberglass lip. It’s a bit heavier than ABS but super durable! Just be careful with the installation – it requires a bit of finesse.

What’s the weight difference between fiberglass and carbon fiber? I’m curious if that affects the performance I can expect.

Thanks for sharing! How has your fiberglass lip held up with daily driving?

I find that ABS offers the best balance between cost and durability for a daily driver. So far, mine has survived rough roads without damage.

I’ve seen videos where carbon fiber lips crack during harsh weather. Is that just a myth or a common issue? I’m reconsidering that choice.

Getting a front lip is a commitment! If you go carbon fiber, you’ll need to baby it a bit, but the look is unbeatable! What’s your budget, though?

While all this info is helpful, I still love the look of a carbon fiber lip, but I need it to survive winters up here. Anyone taken that dive?

I joke that my ABS front lip doubles as a snow plow in the winter! But it really does hold up well despite the abuse. Have you considered it for winter driving?

Reflecting on my experience, I’d say if you drive a lot, go for durability over style. I once had a gorgeous carbon lip but had to replace it twice.

Haha that’s a funny thought! I’ve considered ABS for a combination of looks and practicality. Sounds promising!

In the end, just make sure you’re ready for maintenance if you choose carbon fiber! It’s beautiful but can be a high-maintenance diva!

That’s great advice! I found that using double-sided tape along with screws helped keep it in place, especially at high speeds.

I’ve just installed a front lip on my G20! You’ll need basic tools like a drill, sockets, and a torque wrench. Make sure to secure everything tightly to avoid any vibrations while driving.

Agreed! A misalignment can be a real pain. I laid it out on the ground first to get a visual before committing.

Make sure you also check for alignment before drilling any holes. It’s easy to end up with it skewed if you’re not careful!

If you’re relying on screws, make sure to use the right length screws. Too short won’t hold, and too long may damage your bumper!
