I’m diving into the world of modifications for my BMW X5 M Competition and would love to hear from anyone who has experience with this. From performance upgrades to aesthetic tweaks, I’m curious about what’s made a difference for you.

Performance Upgrades

  • ECU Tuning: Have you tried any particular tuning companies? How much of a difference did it make?

I’ve done a couple of performance mods on my BMW X5 M Competition, focusing mainly on engine tuning and exhaust upgrades. The acceleration is phenomenal, and I love the deeper exhaust note. Overall, the driving experience feels more engaging.

Upgrading the suspension made a huge difference! The X5 is much more responsive during cornering now—definitely enhanced the overall handling. You can really feel the road.

I’ve swapped in an Akrapovic exhaust system and it was worth it! Not only does it sound amazing, but I’ve noticed an increase in power delivery because of the lower backpressure. Highly recommended!

That’s a good point, @rwalker. While there may be concerns about resale, well-done modifications can actually add value if they enhance performance and aesthetics. Just keep it tasteful!

I think most buyers want a stock version, though. I mean, unless you’re selling to someone who appreciates performance mods! Just a thought…
