Anyone have experience with BMW carbon bucket seats?

I’ve been considering upgrading my BMW’s interior with carbon bucket seats, and I’m looking for some insights from anyone who has made the switch.

What I’m curious about:

  • Comfort: How comfortable are they for long drives?
  • Fit: Do they fit well in different BMW models, or is there a specific model they work better with?
  • Performance: Do you feel there’s a noticeable difference in handling or overall driving experience?
  • Long-term use: How do they hold up over time? Are they worth the investment?

If you’ve installed these or have any tips, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Any feedback regarding the practicality and value of these seats in real-world usage would be super helpful.

I recently swapped my standard seats for BMW carbon bucket seats, and I can say they do enhance driving performance significantly. The lightweight design really helps with handling.

That’s great to hear! How are they for daily comfort? I’ve heard they’re a bit aggressive for everyday driving.

In my experience, they are a bit stiff, but once you adjust, they feel amazing. You do feel every bump, but the performance boost is worth it for sporty driving!

Good to know! Is it possible to balance comfort for daily use while still enjoying the performance for the weekend drives?

I must admit, I didn’t find much comfort on longer drives—my back hurt after an hour. Performance-wise, they rock for track days though!

Definitely! If you’re mindful about seating position and adjust your driving style, they can serve both purposes. It just takes a little time to adapt.

That sounds like a bummer! Have you tried using any seat cushions or modifications?

I haven’t yet! I was thinking about it, but I’m not sure it fixes the problem. Maybe a different seat would be better for long commutes?

Switching seats might be a good option if comfort is crucial. Those bucket seats are primarily designed for performance, after all.

I had a similar issue with my former seats until I decided to just get the carbon buckets for my track-focused builds. Wish I could have both luxury and performance!

Haha, that sounds relatable! But honestly, who doesn’t wish for the perfect seat that does it all?

Right? Why not invent a magical seat that transforms based on whether you’re racing or commuting? Until then, the struggle continues!

I’ve installed the carbon bucket seats in my M4. The biggest hurdle was ensuring the bracket compatibility. I suggest checking your model’s specifications first.

Did you run into any issues with the seatbelt mounts? I’ve heard they can be tricky to set up.

To fit them in an F30, we had to modify the stock seat rails. Just a heads up that it’s not a direct swap!

What tools did you use for the modification? I’m worried I might not have the right equipment for the job.

You’ll want a good set of wrenches and maybe a drill if you’re doing brackets! It makes the installation smoother!

Has anyone tried these seats in a non-M model? Curious about the fit and comfort level.

I put them in my 328i and they fit great! Just needed minor adjustments to the mounting points.
