Anyone else struggling to hit 0-60 in my 2017 M2?

The Challenge of Achieving the Perfect 0-60

I’ve been diving into the performance metrics of my 2017 BMW M2 lately, and one number that keeps popping up is the 0-60 mph acceleration time. According to reviews, this beauty can hit 0-60 in about 4.2 seconds, but I’ve been having a tough time getting anywhere close to that number.

Understanding the Specs

The M2, with its powerful inline-six engine, is truly a thrill to drive. However, I’ve noticed that my experiences in achieving that sleek acceleration seem to vary significantly. Here are a few points I’d like to discuss and hopefully get some insight from fellow M2 owners:

  • Tire Performance: What type of tires are you using? I feel like my stock tires might be holding me back, especially during launch.
  • Driving Modes: I’ve been experimenting with different driving modes. Sport Plus sounds great, but is it really the best for achieving the fastest 0-60?
  • Launch Technique: I want to nail down the perfect method for launching. Anyone have tips on how to optimize their launch technique?

What’s Your Experience?

I’ve seen mixed feedback online. Some drivers rave about how easy it is to reach that benchmark, while others, like myself, struggle a bit. If you’ve managed to hit that golden number, I’d love to hear your tips and tricks! Or if you’ve been in the same boat as I am, your experiences would be valuable too.

Let’s get a discussion going around this topic and see what we can uncover!

Conclusion

In conclusion, it seems like many factors play a role in achieving that elusive 0-60 time with the 2017 M2. Let’s share our experiences, and hopefully, we all can improve our M2 performance together.

I totally understand your frustration! I’ve been having similar issues with my 2017 M2. The acceleration feels sluggish sometimes, especially in colder weather.

I’ve noticed that too! It seems like the engine takes a moment to really respond when I hit the gas. Have you checked the throttle response settings?

My M2 often has a lag in acceleration, especially when I switch from comfort to sport mode. Sometimes it doesn’t unleash all the power right away.

I’m glad it’s not just me! I’ve tried several driving conditions, and it seems to struggle on uphill routes in particular.

Has anyone experienced unusual vibrations or sounds during acceleration? I’m starting to worry that it might be a bigger issue.

I haven’t noticed any unusual sounds, but I agree about the vibrations! They can be quite alarming, especially when accelerating from a stop.

Same here! Maybe it’s an inherent problem with the model? Have any of you taken it to a dealer yet?

I’ve been thinking about hitting the dealer, but they always seem less than helpful. Has anyone found a good indie shop?

Good luck with that! I went to a dealer and they brushed off my concerns as just ‘characteristics of the car.’ Very unhelpful!

It’s like they don’t even listen to us. They should take a ride with us to see for themselves!

Or maybe we could just film ourselves trying to hit 0-60 and send it to them for proof! They’d have to respond then, right?

Lol, that’s a great idea! Perhaps we should just start a YouTube channel documenting all our struggles with M2! It might go viral!

That sounds amusing! But seriously, maybe we can come together to share tips on improving performance, like tweaks or mods?

I’m having similar issues too, and I’ve heard that the 2017 M2 can have some maintenance quirks. It’s vital to keep an eye on the turbo system and the intercooler. Those can really cause performance dips if they’re not in top shape.

Yes, exactly! I recently had to replace my intercooler, and it didn’t come cheap. Has anyone else experienced similar repair costs?

The parts can be surprisingly hard to find sometimes, especially if you’re looking for OEM replacements. I ended up having to wait weeks for a simple turbo gasket once.

Definitely! It’s frustrating, but I guess when you’re driving a performance car, you have to expect to spend more on maintenance.

I’ve tracked mine down to brake issues as well. It seems like they wear out faster than expected. Maybe it’s the driving style?

I think a lot of it comes down to how you drive, but it’s also true that some parts just don’t hold up as well. Regular servicing is key, but it can add up quick.
